Peruvian Hero, Peruvian Product, Making a Marc
Posted by Bold Commerce Collaborator on
Peru, the home of the organic Pima cotton that is used to make Marc Skid underwear, is also home to CNN’s Hero of the Year for 2018, Dr. Ricardo Pun. As a medical doctor in Lima, Peru, Dr. Pun treated many children whose impoverished families had traveled from rural areas to get appropriate medical treatment for their kids. These families had made difficult and dangerous journeys to the city. “People have to cross the mountains or take a boat to cross the river,”...

Why gardening is bad a$$
Posted by Dan Barry on
Why gardening is bad a$$ It's not just your grandma's hobby. Gardening gets a bad rap, but when you think about it, it's a really cool concept. You can literally sustain yourself. Live off the land. Create sustenance from what was once nothing. But gardening also has a pretty cool history. During WW1, Europe's farmland and agricultural workforce all became products of the war. So the burden of feeding millions landed on the U.S. and it was up to citizens to step up. People...

Charity spotlight: The Hunger Project
Posted by Dan Barry on
Charity spotlight: The Hunger Project It starts with women. That's the idea behind The Hunger Project’s programs throughout Africa, South Asia and Latin America. In fact, it’s the first of their three pillars that form the foundation for each of the 16,075 communities the organization aids: Empower women as key agents of change Mobilize communities into self-reliant action Foster effective partnerships to engage local government In general, The Hunger Project initiates campaigns against early marriage and violence against women, education programs for nutrition and sanitation and income-generating activities for communities in need. It’s their belief that by pioneering sustainable, women-centered strategies, we...

Charity Spotlight: feedONE - Convoy of Hope
Posted by Dan Barry on
Charity Spotlight: feedONE - Convoy of Hope feedONE, a campaign of Convoy of Hope, is on a mission to feed children in developing nations all over the world. Our eco-friendly underwear brand is set out to help them do just that. How do the two overlap? Jeff Roman, executive director of Integrated Marketing and feedONE, says feedONE wanted to partner with Marc Skid because the two organizations share the same goal: helping people. “Marc Skid is similar to feedONE in that they saw a need and wanted to do something about it. Our hope is that we can partner together...
