Where does Marc Skid organic Pima cotton come from?

Marc Skid prides itself on the quality of the underwear we produce. Every pair is made from organic Pima cotton - one of the rarest fibers in the world. Our partnership with Bergman/Rivera helps us consistently deliver high-quality, sustainable products that make a Marc on the world.

 Why Bergman/Rivera?

Bergman/Rivera is a textile company that has been a pioneer in organic cotton production in Peru since 1986. But organic cotton is more than just cotton raised without GMOs or chemical inputs. It really makes a difference. Bergman/Rivera believes that through organic cotton production they can improve the living conditions of everyone involved in the production process and make more sustainable choices for the future of our planet.

Conventional cotton is one of the highest polluting crops globally. 25% of all insecticides and 10% of all pesticides in the world are used in conventional cotton production. Plus, poor soil management practices impact the land's ability to water and nutrients.

Organic cotton production omits the use of any chemical fertilizer or input and utilizes practices like crop rotation, green manure and cover crops to maintain soil health, allowing the soil to hold up to 1,000 times more water. To date, that's saved about 87,201 Olympic-sized swimming pools of water. (Who wants to go for a dip?) Plus, at Bergman/Rivera, all the cotton is hand-picked by fair trade workers, saving the carbon emissions from tractors and equipment.

Fair trade is the other pillar Bergman/Rivera is founded on. Every farm they work with is family-owned and they provide financial and technical assistance to their farmers as needed.

Why Pima?

Pima cotton is an extra long staple length fiber that provides extra softness and durability (both great qualities for undies!). Pima cotton itself is rare - making up about 2% of the world's cotton. But organic Pima cotton? It's estimated that Marc Skid's materials are made from the world's finest .0005%

So not only do Marc Skid undies give back to the charity of your choice, but they're also ethically and sustainably made. (Did we mention every waistband is made from a recycled water bottle?)

What's not to love? Make your Marc on the world today.
