People making their Marc on the world: Abigail Howard

Making your Marc on the world can look like any number of different things: making sustainable and charitable purchases, volunteering, or donating to worthy causes. But for Abigail Howard, starting her own charitable organization to fund safe houses and fight sex trafficking was the way to go.

On a service trip to Tijuana, Abigail was struck by seeing survivors of awful circumstances like sex trafficking thrive thanks to a support system from a safe house there. So when she returned home in March of 2017, despite the busyness of attending college full-time and working a part-time job, she started Project Micah 6:8

The verse Micah 6:8 reads,

"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

And so, these make up the mission of Project Micah 6:8: Do justice, love kindness and walk humbly.

In just one year, Project Micah 6:8 has raised over $3,000 to help safe houses provide dental services, therapy and wellness programs. The organization attracts over 1,200 views per day on their Facebook page and continues to grow.

To join the cause, Project Micah 6:8 accepts donations, but also encourages people to spread awareness of the dangers of sex trafficking and organizations like Project Micah 6:8 working to end it. And because Project Micah 6:8 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, you can be sure that every penny donated is used directly toward the sole mission of the organization.

So what are you waiting for? How will you make your Marc on the world?

"I knew if I put my mind to the project, I could do anything. And I did." - Abigail Howard, CEO, Project Micah 6:8
