Charity spotlight: Project C.U.R.E.

Project C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment) is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. From humble beginnings in Dr. James Jackson's garage circa 1987, what began as one man collecting $250,000 worth of medical supplies in 30 days has grown into an organization that has helped men, women and children in 130 countries. Dr. Jackson's charitable actions had such an impact on those around him that 10 years after that first donation, his son Dr. Douglas Jackson, would become the president and CEO of Project C.U.R.E. What a great example of how one good deed can multiply!

And since then, the charity has been anything but stagnant. Monetary donations are more than welcome - in fact, according to Project C.U.R.E., a donation of just $1 can end up donating $20 worth of medical supplies. But Project C.U.R.E. also offers several creative ways to get involved in curing the world. One is their C.U.R.E. Coffee. Grown in the Jinotega region of Nicaragua and sold freshly ground by Boca Java, C.U.R.E. Coffee donates $3 from every bag purchased to send medical supplies to the farmers and their families who grow the beans.

Once you're juiced up on caffeine and giving back, you might be ready for a PhilantrhoTravel trip. As part of a very unique opportunity, altruistic adventurers will have the chance to connect firsthand with Project C.U.R.E.'s work around the world. Part of what you pay for your trip goes toward delivering a cargo container full of supplies to the country you're visiting, and you're able to truly experience a new culture.

And of course, Project C.U.R.E. has also teamed with Marc Skid to help cure the world, one pair of undies at a time. So for every pair of red underwear that chooses Project C.U.R.E. as their charity of choice, $4 will go toward sending medical supplies to areas in need.

That also means Project C.U.R.E. has received a full 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, so you can be sure your donation is getting into the hands of those who need it.

Ready to get started curing the world (even without a medical degree)? Choose red at checkout and make your Marc!
