Make your Marc on the World by Reducing your Carbon Footprint

We leave our footprints everywhere we go. Whether it's your dog’s paw prints in the snow or your own muddy footprints after a rainy day. These footprints aren’t the problem, but our individual carbon footprints are definitely an issue.

What is a carbon footprint?

Prior to my sophomore year of college, I had never heard of a carbon footprint. Trust me, I’m disappointed in myself too. The truth is, many people don’t have a clue about what a carbon footprint entails let alone its importance. Essentially, a carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide and carbon compounds that we emit due to our own consumption of fossil fuels.

How can you learn more about your carbon footprint?

There are a number of factors that help determine your carbon footprint. For instance, how many people you live with, how much electricity you use, your transportation method and even the amount of red meat you eat.

If you’re curious about yours, Carbonfund.org offers a free carbon footprint calculator. They also offer preset options which represent your living situation and allows you to donate to projects that offset how much carbon you produce. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Their project options include:

  • Basket
  • Renewable energy & methane
  • Energy efficiency & carbon credits
  • Reforestation & Avoided Deforestation
  • Acre Redd & Forestry Projects

How can you reduce it?

There are many ways you can reduce your carbon footprint and help save our planet.

Here are just a few:

  • Walk to class or catch a ride with a friend (driving alone is boring anyways)
  • Turn off your lights when you aren’t using them
  • Reduce your red meat and dairy consumption
  • Recycle (Come on, IT’S SO EASY!)
  • Lower your water usage

Even your choice of undies can help reduce your carbon footprint too. But how?

Marc Skid underwear is the only underwear brand that allows you to give back with every purchase. We donate $4 toward nine different charities that help Save, Feed and Cure the world. The best part? You even get to choose which charity earns your valued donation.

We believe everyone can make their Marc on the world. With a pair of Marc Skid undies, you can too.
