The above is the dictionary-style definition that the Looptworks company gives of itself on its website. “The only thing we scrap is the typical way of doing business,” Looptworks continues. All materials used in Looptworks would have been fated for the landfill or the incinerator had Looptworks not rescued them for reuse and upcycling. The company avers, “Our long term goal is to work towards closed-loop (Loopt) solutions in manufacturing, hence our name: “looped works.” Like Marc Skid, Looptworks is dedicated to conservation. For example, it states that is has conserved over 77 million gallons of water through its work.
This company makes a point of saying that its products are not just recycled but upcycled – made into items that are not of less value than the original items, or even of equal value, but of greater value.
